CAE Welcomes Operations Manager and Supervisor
Columbia Metropolitan Airport Welcomes Operations Manager and Supervisor
(Cayce) Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s Operations Department is under new leadership with Megan Atkins Thoben assuming the position of Operations Manager and Ryan Kreulen joining the airport team as the Operations Supervisor.
Prior to arriving at CAE, Megan spent over five years at Blue Grass Airport (LEX) in Lexington KY, where she began her career in airport management, first as an Operations Specialist before being promoted to an Operations Supervisor. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management in 2010 from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond KY, completing the degree program in three years. A native of Louisville KY, Megan says that she acquired a profound interest in the aviation industry through the inspiration of her father, an Instrument Rated pilot, who would fly Megan, her mom, and brothers around in the family’s Cessna 172. Megan is also a Private Pilot Certificate holder and a Certified Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
Ryan comes to the Columbia Metropolitan Airport from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), where he most recently served as an Operations Duty Manager. Prior to joining the Operations Department at GSP, Ryan worked as an Operations Supervisor at Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. He is a 2009 graduate of Auburn University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management. Ryan has lived in both Europe and Asia because of his father’s service in the United States Air Force. Ryan is also a Certified Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
Together, Megan and Ryan bring the experience and new perspective to Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s operation that will allow the department to effectively keep pace with other recent airport successes.
“Our airport has had four years of growth between 2011 and 2015,” says Mike Gula, Director of Operations, Facilities, and Planning. “We’re expecting to see even more growth going forward and having Megan and Ryan leading the helm of our Ops Department will be a critical part of our ability to successfully manage that growth from an operations standpoint.”
The airport operations team has a variety of responsibilities including ensuring the airport is in compliance with federal regulations, conducting daily inspections of the airfield, and serving as a liaison between airport staff and tenants.
